2nd Junior High School of Kalymnos, Dodecanese, Greece – Caves of Kalymnos

The stalactite created by the gradual deposition of calcium carbonate ( caσταλακτίτες1lcite ) during stagonorois inside of caves and cavities located in limestone . Usually have cylindrical – conical shape and hanging from the ceiling of the cave .

The stalactites depending on the amount of calcium carbonate that carries water and depending on the flow and speed, can be formed within a few years or after the lapse of centuries . In any case, it created various formations , often impressive , that are unforgettable to those who have seen them !
